Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,583 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)

Working Pattern: This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, 38.8 weeks per year (Monday to Friday)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Grade C School Office Administrator to join the friendly and committed team at The Park Community School, part of The Harbour Schools Partnership in North Devon. This role plays an important part in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school by providing high-quality administrative, communication and reception support. The successful candidate will help ensure that enquiries are handled professionally, information is communicated effectively and administrative processes run efficiently.

About the Role

As our Office Administrator, you will support the effective running of school administration systems and contribute to clear, efficient communication across the school community.

The successful candidate will be well organised, able to manage a range of administrative tasks and communicate confidently with staff, students, parents and visitors. A positive, flexible approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.

This is a varied and rewarding role within a supportive school environment. The post holder will work closely with the Front Office Lead and wider administration team and may be required to undertake additional duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post.

Under the direction of the Front Office Lead, you will help ensure that all administrative systems remain up‑to‑date, compliant, and aligned with audit expectations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support the school office team with incoming telephone calls, ensuring these are routed promptly and messages taken and communicated onwards where necessary.
  • Adhere to relevant child and data protection protocol, referring matters to the 
    relevant staff member or taking messages where required.
  • General office and department administration including visitor and parent liaison services via the telephone, and supporting visitor reception when backup is required.
  • Provide admin support for departments as directed by line manager, such as photocopying, filing, data entry, preparation of resources or display of student works.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Experienced in administration, with strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • A clear, confident communicator with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative where needed.
  • Competent in ICT, including Microsoft 365 and school systems.
  • Qualified with GCSE Grade C+ in English and Maths.

Desirable attributes include:

  • A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to “have a go.”
  • Experience working in a school office or with school‑specific software.
  • NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • An eagerness to learn and develop new skill

This role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
